Interstate 440 Repairs Top State Road Improvements List
Funded by the gas tax increase as part of the governor's IMPROVE Act, long-awaited upgrades to I-440 are coming.

NASHVILLE, TN — Nashville motorists rejoice: long-needed improvements to Interstate 440 are coming, the state's transportation department announced Tuesday. Pavement rehabilitation and safety upgrades to the loop between Interstates 65 and 24 are among the first group of projects that will be undertaken using new funding from a gas tax increase as part of the recently approved IMPROVE Act.
The Tennessee Department of Transportation revealed a $2.6 billion list of 101 projects in 40 counties and another 15 statewide projects in its three road-improvement plan on the heels of the passage of Gov. Bill Haslam's plan which will add six cents to the state's gas tax.

“I am thrilled to see that repairing heavily damaged I-440 is one of Governor Haslam’s top priorities in the Tennessee Department of Transportation’s list of road projects. Residents in Davidson County and commuters across the region have been extremely vocal about the need for this to happen, and I am pleased that Governor Haslam and Commissioner Schroer have listened," Nashville Mayor Megan Barry said in a statement.
