Investigation Continuing Into Sunday's Fatal Wounding Of Woman On Fain Street In Nashville

A physical fight between several persons outside 153 Fain Street Sunday evening led to gunfire and the fatal wounding of Linda McMurry, 59, who was shot while in the back seat of a car being driven by her son.

The investigation, being led by Homicide Unit Detective Charles Duke, shows that the victim’s son and his girlfriend were in a physical dispute with other persons outside of the car. According to the son, when he and his girlfriend got into the vehicle, a gunman opened fire. The son drove to a truck stop on W. Trinity Lane, where he discovered that McMurry was not breathing. She was transported to Skyline Medical Center and pronounced dead from a gunshot wound.
