Kingston Springs Woman Killed In Head-On Collision On Clarksville Pike
Cook was not wearing a seatbelt.

This afternoon’s head-on collision in the 4500 block of Clarksville Pike involving Chevrolet Blazer and Ford Explorer SUVs claimed the life of Blazer driver, Sydney Cook (also known as Sydney Cross), 23, of Kingston Springs. Cook’s three-month-old son, who was in a child seat in the back of the Blazer, was seriously hurt and was transported to Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. The driver of the Explorer, John Merritt, 48, of Pleasant View, was transported to Vanderbilt with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation shows that Cook was traveling south on Clarksville Pike approaching Briley Parkway when, for reasons unknown, she crossed the center line and collided with the Explorer. There were no indications of impairment on the part of Merritt, who was wearing his seatbelt. Prescription medication was found in Cook’s vehicle. Toxicology testing will be conducted by the Medical Examiner. Cook was not wearing a seatbelt.
