Man Fondles Child At Church: Nashville Police

A man is accused of fondling a 4-year-old at a North Nashville church.

NASHVILLE, TN — A Nashville man is accused of fondling a 4-year-old at a North Nashville church.

According to an affidavit, Donnie Wade was attending a lunch for the homeless at Word of Life Church on Clarksville Pike, where the victim and his grandmother were assisting in serving food. Wade approached the boy and asked about food and then began assisting the 4-year-old with his shirt, as his hands were trapped inside; however, Wade then began to fondle the boy "in his groin area," according to police. Another parishioner saw the contact and alerted the boy's great-grandmother, who called police.

Responding officers say that, at first, Wade denied touching the boy, but later admitted to it.

He is charged with aggravated sexual battery.
