Man Found Burned To Death In Nashville Dumpster Identified, No Foul Play Suspected

Officials say Robert K. Lasater, 56, who was homeless, may have fallen asleep with a lit cigarette.

The man discovered burned beyond recognition the morning of March 4th inside a garbage dumpster at 521 8th Avenue South has been positively identified through dental records as Robert K. Lasater, 56, who was homeless.

There was no evidence of foul play at the scene. The Medical Examiner found no additional injuries. Soot was also present in his esophagus which indicated that he was breathing when the fire was ignited.

It is possible that Lasater, who was known to be a heavy smoker, may have fallen asleep with a lit cigarette.
