Man Now Charged With Criminal Homicide In Death Of His Ex-Girlfriend In Antioch

Homicide Unit detectives today swore out a murder warrant against Brian T. Mitchell, 23, after his pregnant ex-girlfriend, allegedly shot by him on the night of April 28th, died from complications of her wounds this morning.

Laquisha Terrell, 23, who was 6 to 7 months pregnant, suffered wounds to her chest, abdomen and legs during the shooting at Cedar Pointe Apartments in Antioch. As part of lifesaving efforts for Terrell and her unborn daughter, an emergency Caesarean section was performed to deliver the child, who remains in extremely critical condition.

Terrell’s boyfriend, Michael D. Stewart, 28, suffered gunshot wounds to his chest and hip. He is now recovering at home.

Mitchell was arrested on the afternoon of April 29th. He is now charged with Terrell’s murder and the attempted murders of the baby and Stewart.
