The driver killed in Thursday’s 5:30 a.m. single-vehicle crash on the entrance ramp to I-65 North from I-440 West is tentatively identified as a 49-year-old Nashville man. The Medical Examiner’s Office will confirm his identity.

The preliminary investigation shows that a Honda Civic was being driven onto the entrance ramp to I-65 North from I-440 West when the car, for reasons unknown, left the roadway and traveled down a ravine, striking several trees. The vehicle caught fire. The driver died at the scene.
