Metro Nashville Schools Closed Thursday Ahead Of Severe Storms

Metro Schools are closed with the threat of potentially dangerous thunderstorms pushing into the Midstate Thursday.

NASHVILLE, TN — With the threat of potentially dangerous strong to severe thunderstorms Thursday, Metro Nashville Public Schools are closed.

A first, weaker line of storms will push into the area Thursday morning and while that line may bring hail and high winds, its main impact will be the way it effects the later line. Essentially, the National Weather Service says, the slower the first system, the weaker the second; however, forecasters believe the morning storms will move quickly enough to set up for a potentially dangerous event during rush hour Thursday afternoon.

Supercell storms with an elevated potential for hail and tornadoes are possible. The weather service urges people to remain aware of the weather throughout the day.
