Middle Tennessee Snow: Winter Weather Advisory Until Noon Saturday

The National Weather Service says the Midstate could pick up 1 to 2 inches of snow before noon.

NASHVILLE, TN — A somewhat unexpected burst of snow rolling through the Midstate has resulted in the National Weather Service issuing a Winter Weather Advisory for Middle Tennessee through noon Saturday.

Roads have become hazardous, particularly in the wake of a line of high-snow-rate moisture that pushed into Nashville shortly after 7 a.m., with some areas picking up more than a half-inch of snow in less than an hour. The snow is expected to continue through 10 a.m. and taper off by midday. A second round of snow is expected to fall tonight. This initial round could result in 1 to 2 inches of snow, particularly on grassy areas. While pavement is relatively warm given last week's heat wave, overpasses and elevated areas could see slick spots. Visibility is greatly reduced during snow bursts and travel is likely to be hazardous throughout the morning.
