Minnesota Father Seeks Lost Daughter In Middle Tennessee

Six-year-old Claire Cooney was last seen at a Centerville thrift store with two adults who said they were "going off the grid."

CENTERVILLE, TN — A Minnesota man has flown to Middle Tennessee in search of his 6-year-old daughter, who was last seen with her mother and her boyfriend at a Centerville thrift store, where the adults told the store owner they planned to go off the grid.

Brian Cooney of Perham, Minn. told News 2 he hasn't seen his daughter Claire in more than a month, but on March 2, she was spotted at Becky's Thrift Store in Centerville. The store's owner, Becky Bryant, felt uneasy about the two adults with the little girl.

“They bought rope, tarps and hacksaws and said they were ‘going off the grid.’ Not with a six-year-old child," she told the news station.

Bryant said Claire's hair had been dyed black and the woman, identified as her mother, Miranda Cooney, was wearing a wig. Bryant had her nephew surreptitiously take a photo of the couple's SUV and the license plate was traced to Jonathan Dennis Bromen, who is a wanted felon in Minnesota.

According to a web site set up to reunite Claire with her father, who is her custodial parent, Miranda Cooney has family in Athens, Tenn., Decatur, Ga., and throughout Kentucky, including in London. Bromen has family in Dickson, White Bluff and Hickman County, Tenn. and throughout Florida, including the Fort Myers area.
