Nashville Booze Bandit Boosts, Breaks Big-Ticket Bottles: Police
A 51-year-old man is charged with stealing more than $1,000 in alcohol from a Gulch restaurant.

NASHVILLE, TN — A 51-year-old man is charged with drinking illicitly behind the second-floor bar of Virago in The Gulch and then, in a failed attempt to abscond with more alcohol in his backpack, breaking bottles containing more than $1,000 in booze.
Metro Police were called to The Gulch restaurant before 6 a.m. Tuesday and were told by a witness that Jimmy Lloyd and an another, unidentified man were spotted exiting the restaurant. The witness was able to stop Lloyd, but the other man got away before police arrived.

Lloyd allegedly told police that he and his friend broke into the restaurant and walked up to the second floor bar and began drinking and then put four more bottles in his backpack. Some of those bottles broke during Lloyd's escape attempt.
The manager of Virago — which sells liquor by the shot from its second floor bar — told police that the purloined hooch and broken bottles totaled more than $1,000.

Lloyd is charged with burglary, theft and public intoxication.
