Nashville Chosen as Host City For Diversity in Arts Leadership Intern Program

Applications for Students and Organizations Open Today

Nashville joins New York City and the state of New Jersey as a host site for Diversity in Arts Leadership (DIAL) 2020 internships, a program from Americans for the Arts (AFTA) matching undergraduate students from backgrounds traditionally untapped for arts leadership with dynamic communities, energetic host arts organizations, and business mentors, to guide students’ personal and professional growth throughout the summer.

The Metro Nashville Arts Commission (Metro Arts) will serve as the local arts coordinating agency for Nashville DIAL interns and organizations. DIAL’s nationwide, competitive selection process will grant paid, ten-week-long internships as well as housing and transportation assistance. Calling Nashville “one of the most culturally rich cities in the country,” AFTA describes the Nashville internships as “perfect for those who envision learning about arts and cultural engagements in growing cities, and are eager to explore the city in all its vibrancy.”

Interested students and prospective host organizations can read more about the program on the DIAL website. The deadline for intern applications is Jan. 10, 2020, while organizations must complete the art host application process by Jan. 24.
