Nashville Finds Headliner For Christmas Tree Lighting, Still Looking For Christmas Tree
Critically-acclaimed modern-day honky tonker Margo Price will perform at the Dec. 2 tree lighting, if the city finds a tree by then.

NASHVILLE, TN — Nashville has its headliner for the annual Christmas Tree Lighting, just not the centerpiece.
Rising honky-tonker Margo Price will top the bill at the December 2 ceremony, which begins at 6 p.m. on the Public Square, Mayor Megan Barry's office announced Thursday. In addition to her acoustic set, attendees will hear holiday selections from the West End United Methodist Church, W.O. Smith School and Nashville School of the Arts choirs. Mascots Booster and Gnash from the Nashville Sounds and Predators, respectively, will also be in attendance and free hot drinks will be provided.
No tickets are required, but guests are encouraged to RSVP at 2016NashvilleTreeLighting.eventbrite.com

While all that is squared away, the city is still in search of its official Christmas tree.
The city announced back in October that it was on the lookout for a 30- to 40-foot Norway spruce which "looks good from all angles" to serve as the city's Christmas tree. The Parks Department will cut down the tree, remove the stump and, if necessary, plant a replacement tree. Apparently, Parks still hasn't tracked down the tree. If you have a tree or know of one that meets the criteria, call Randall Lantz at 615-862-8400 or e-mail him at Randall.Lantz@nashville.gov.
