A 35-foot Norway spruce will be cut down, relocated to the Public Square and decorated in time for the December 2 tree lighting.

Metro Parks selected a 35-foot Norway spruce in the Davidson County yard of David and Mary Taylor and David Helmontaller. Metro Parks crews will cut down the tree, remove the stump and plant a replacement and the Nashville Electric Service transport the spruce to Public Square Park where it will be decorated with 6,000 LED lights and officially illuminated at the tree lighting ceremony which begins at 6 p.m. December 2.

Mary Taylor told WKRN she planted the tree and its when they were four-feet tall.

“We used to decorate them for Christmas and Halloween until we could no longer reach the tops. We cut the other tree down several years ago because it blocked so much of the view,” she told the station.
