Nashville Man Speeding, Texting, High And Driving A Child: Police
A Nashville father faces a smorgasbord of charges following a Saturday traffic stop.

NASHVILLE, TN — A Nashville father pulled over initially for texting while driving now faces a laundry list of charges after he sped away from police attempting to search his car.
Police pulled over Antonio Travis, 29, on Briley Parkway Saturday for failure to maintain his lane and for texting while driving. Officers say when they arrived at the car, there was "a strong smell of marijuana" and informed him his vehicle would be searched.

Travis told the officers he wanted to explain to his 11-year-old son, who was in the backseat, what was happening, but instead the elder Travis "jumped in his car and drove off at a high rate of speed(,) exceeding 100 mph," according to an affidavit.
After a short pursuit, Travis was arrested near Dickerson Pike after he left his car and laid on the ground waiting for police.

Travis is charged with DUI, violation of the implied consent law, felony evasion and child endangerment.
