A grand jury indicted both men on charges of first-degree murder and unlawful gun possession by a convicted felon. The charges stem from the shooting of White on the night of June 22, in an alleyway between apartment buildings in the 600 block of 41st Avenue North, the Nashville police said.

The police were called to the scene, but they didn't find White because he had been taken to General Hospital, WZTV Fox17 reported. White was then taken to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where he died.
McDonald is facing unrelated drug and firearm charges, the Nashville police said. He received a five-year sentence in 2010 for aggravated assault.
