Nashville PD, Medical Examiner's Office, Work To ID Deceased Person Found In Garbage Dumpster

Homicide Unit detectives are investigating this morning’s discovery of a body, believed to be a male, in a garbage dumpster at 521 8th Avenue South.

A sanitation driver saw the dumpster on fire at 4 a.m. and called 911. After extinguishing the blaze, firefighters found the body which was burned beyond recognition.

An autopsy is pending to determine the person’s identity and cause of death.
