Nashville Police Thwart Teens' Mailbox Stick-Up Of 88-Year-Old Man

Three men were arrested when police allegedly caught them in the act of holding up a man at gunpoint in North Nashville.

NASHVILLE, TN — Metro Police detectives were in the right place at the right time to stop an apparent robbery attempt in North Nashville Thursday night.

Detectives patrolling Westport Drive saw a Hyundai Sonata approach an 88-year-old man checking his mail. Three people leaped out of the Sonata and allegedly pulled out guns, demanding money from the man. The three men — 19-year-old Derrick Archibald, Octavious Mannie and Tony Scoggin, both 18 — were immediately arrested.

Investigators said two of the three implicated themselves in a previous robbery on Iris Drive about an hour prior and the third suspect allegedly admitted participating. Police say a search of the car resulted in the discovery of a gun, a paintball gun and $270.
