Nashville Sex Offender On The Run After Throwing Ankle Monitor Into Cumberland River

Police are searching for a convicted sex offender who apparently threw his monitoring device into the river.

NASHVILLE, TN — Metro Police are searching for a convicted sex offender who apparently threw his ankle monitor into the Cumberland River.

Michael St. Clair, who was convicted of rape in 2003, was issued a monitoring device in April. On Sunday, he allegedly severed the strap and the tracking system showed it had been thrown into the river. St. Clair's whereabouts are unknown. In addition to the rape conviction, St. Clair has previous convictions for tampering with a monitoring device and failure to comply with the sex offender registry law.
