Nashville Shatters 127-Year-Old Christmas Day Heat Record
Christmas's high temperature of 76 was three degrees higher than the previous mark set in 1889.

NASHVILLE, TN — Nashville's Christmas Day high temperature was the hottest on record, according to the National Weather Service. Just after 1 p.m., the thermometer hit 74, breaking the previous record of 73 set on Christmas Day 1889. An hour later, Nashville hit its high for the day of 76 degrees.
It's the second consecutive Christmas with unusually warm temperatures in Nashville. Last Christmas, the high was 69 as part of a warm spell that brought thunderstorms and even tornadoes to the Midstate.
After rain and storms Monday, temperatures will moderate, with high temperatures back into the only-slightly-atypical 50s for the rest of the week.
