Nashville's April Warmest On Record

The average temperature in Nashville in April was 6.9 degrees above normal.

NASHVILLE, TN — There were plenty of April showers, but April 2017 will be remembered mostly for its heat.

The National Weather Service says that last month was the hottest April on record in the Nashville area, with an average temperature of 65.9 degrees, 6.9 degrees above normal and 0.6 degrees higher than the old record set in April 1954.

The average high in April was 77.3 degrees and 24 of April's 30 days had temperatures above the normal range. April 29 — the day of Nashville's marathon — set a record with a blistering high temperature of 91 degrees.

As for the showers? There were plenty, as rainfall totals doubled the normal amount.
