Pedestrian Struck And Killed On I-24 West Identified

The pedestrian struck by an SUV and killed at 8 p.m. Wednesday on I-24 west just past Haywood Lane is identified as Brittany Lynn Lewis, 33, of Nashville.

Kevin Thomas, 60, of LaVergne, reported that he was driving his Mercury Mariner in the second to far right lane of the interstate when he came upon Lewis who was standing in the middle of his lane. Thomas said that he could not avoid hitting her. Lewis died at the scene.

It is not known why Lewis was on the interstate. There were no abandoned or broken down vehicles near the crash.

Thomas showed no indications of impairment.
