Pedestrian Struck And Killed On Murfreesboro Pike Wednesday Identified

Richard Farliss, 45, of Cottontown, was lying in the roadway for unknown reasons when he was hit by a car.

The pedestrian killed Wednesday at 12:30 a.m. in the 800 block of Murfreesboro Pike is identified as Richard Farliss, 45, of Cottontown, Tennessee.

The preliminary investigation shows that, for reasons unknown, Farliss was lying in the roadway when he was struck by the driver of a southbound Toyota Camry, Jason Garlow, 46, of Nashville. Garlow reported that he attempted to stop but was unable to avoid hitting Farliss. Farliss was transported to Vanderbilt Medical Center where he died.

There was no evidence at the scene to suggest Farliss had been struck earlier by another vehicle. Garlow showed no signs of alcohol or drug impairment.
