Police: Man Killed Near Downtown Stabbed, Not Shot
An autopsy revealed a man accused of shooting his girlfriend died from a stab wound, not a bullet as originally thought.

NASHVILLE, TN — A man investigators believed to have been shot in the chest following a domestic dispute Tuesday in fact died from a stab wound, police said Friday.
Police believe Dallas Cato, 23, shot his 30-year-old girlfriend in the legs around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday. Cato was found shortly thereafter in his crashed car with a chest wound. He later died at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.
Police initially reported the wound was from a gun shot, though an autopsy revealed it was instead a knife wound that looked a gunshot wound. Cato's girlfriend, who is recovering in the hospital, told detectives she stabbed Cato in self-defense.
