'Prison Or Bus Station?': Bathroom Meme Goes Viral, MTA Promises Changes to Bus Station Restrooms
Transit authority says it is 'appalled' at the conditions of the bathroom at Music City Central and promises renovations.

NASHVILLE, TN — The Metropolitan Transit Authority promised changes to the bathrooms at the downtown bus station after a head-scratching meme made the rounds on the internet, highlighting how run-down the restrooms really are.
New activist group Music City Riders United created a side-by-side shot of the bathrooms at Music City Central and at the former state prison and challenged MTA officials to identify which is which.
The bathrooms are dirty and vandalized and neither the prison bathrooms nor the Music City Central bathrooms have dividing walls between the stalls or urinals. Meanwhile, bathrooms at the station for the Music City Star commuter train not only is properly stocked with toilet paper and paper towels, it has walled stalls and porcelain sinks with faucets that are functional.

MTA reacted quickly, issuing a statement:
“We, too, are appalled that individuals have continued to vandalize the men’s restroom at Music City Central over the past several months. Such acts are deplorable and inexcusable,” it said, in part.

MCRU declared victory but said that it would be keeping an eye on the authority to insure promises are kept.
"We also demand MTA stock both bathrooms with toilet paper and that the water faucets actually work. We'll follow this carefully (and) make sure they keep their promises," the group said on Facebook.
