Severe Storms Likely Across Middle Tennessee Wednesday

NASHVILLE, TN — As the old saying goes, March will certainly come roaring in like a lion.

The National Weather Service says Middle Tennessee is at an enhanced risk of strong to severe storms overnight Tuesday and in particular during rush hour Wednesday morning. Officially, the NWS says storms will enter the central third of Middle Tennessee between 6 a.m. and noon, but latest model runs indicate that the storms will arrived in the Nashville area between 6 a.m. and 8 a.m., just as rush hour heats up.

Straight line winds are the main threat, followed by large hail, but the weather service is not ruling out tornadoes. Even before the main storm line arrives, winds will be strong, gusting as high as 40 mph.

Once the cold front rolls through, winds will turn from the south to the north, causing temperatures to drop. Find your local Middle Tennessee Patch for updates throughout the storm.
