Tennessee Couple Posted Baby For Sale On Craigslist: Police
A Greene County couple is accused of trying to sell a 5-month-old for $3,000.
GREENEVILLE, TN — An East Tennessee couple is behind bars after trying to sell a baby on Craigslist for $3,000, according to investigators.
Tipped off by a local couple, the Elizabethton Police Department in neighboring Carter County alerted the Greene County Sheriff's Office that John David Cain Jr., 26, and Deanna Greer, 38, both of Greeneville, had listed a 5-month old for sale online. The sheriff's office then alerted the FBI and the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation.

An undercover TBI agent contacted Greer and Lynn “and a price of $3,000 was given" for the infant, according to an arrest warrant, and the undercover agent arranged to meet the pair at a Dollar General in Greeneville.
Investigators say the agent gave the couple $3,000 and "the baby was handed" to the agent.

The baby was immediately taken in to custody by the Department of Children's Services, as was another child of Greer's.
Cain and Greer are charged with aggravated child abuse and aggravated child neglect or endangerment and both are being held on $150,000 bond.
