Tennessee Trooper Hit During Roadblock

A Tennessee Highway Patrol officer was injured when a car ignored a rolling roadblock on Interstate 40 Tuesday night.

NASHVILLE, TN — A driver dodging a rolling roadblock hit a Tennessee state trooper Tuesday night, according to police.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol officer, who's not been identified, was assisting with the roadblock as paving work was underway on Interstate 40 near White Bridge Road. Around 9 p.m., investigators say, a car went around the roadblock, hitting the officer, who was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and causing a three-car crash.

The crash snarled already slow traffic, taking four lanes down to one for more than five hours.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are expected.
