Thousands Of Absentee Ballots Mailed To Davidson County Voters This Morning

The Davidson County Election Commission began mailing Absentee Ballots this morning, after receiving printed ballots on Wednesday. Thousands of requests from local voters have now been fulfilled, well in advance of the November 3 election.

“We know our absentee by-mail voters have been anxiously awaiting their ballots,” said Jeff Roberts, administrator of elections, “so we were prepared when the truck arrived yesterday. Our staff has been and will continue to work diligently, processing voter requests as quickly as possible.”

“Even more Poll Officials were brought in this week to process the record number of Absentee Ballot Requests pouring into our office,” explained Roberts. “At last count, 17,851 forms have been received, far exceeding the total number received for the 2016 presidential election (7,005). Work will continue nights and weekends to ensure every request is completed promptly.”

“Our hope is that voters will mark their ballots upon receipt, and mail them back to us without delay,” added Roberts.

Instructions included with every ballot emphasize that voted ballots must be received by mail in the Davidson County Election Commission office by close of polls November 3. Ballots must be physically present for counting on Election Day.

There is still time to request an Absentee Ballot for the November election. A request form may be found online at www.nashville.gov/vote or voters can call the Election Commission at 615-862-8815 to have one sent to them.
