Violent Ex-Con In Custody For Monday's Robbery In Nashville

Violent ex-convict Denevie K. Bell is now jailed for Monday’s 11:25 a.m. robbery/shooting of a 55-year-old man on Madison Boulevard and Argyle Avenue.

The victim was walking when Bell, 38, allegedly robbed him at gunpoint. During the hold-up, the victim was shot in the side. He was transported to Skyline Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

After the shooting, Bell fled in a burgundy Ford F-150 pickup truck driven by accused accomplice Damon Sales, 19. Sales is charged with being an accessory after the fact and remains jailed in lieu of $1,000 bond.

Investigation by Madison Precinct detectives led to the identification of Bell as the gunman. Officers yesterday located Bell hiding in the back seat of a parked vehicle near his Charles E. Davis Boulevard residence. He was taken into custody after attempting to flee on foot. An arrest warrant charging him with especially aggravated robbery was issued late last night. He is also charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a police officer.

In 2015, Bell was charged in a string of aggravated street robberies involving holding up women at gunpoint. He has been out on bond in the 2015 cases, which remain unresolved. Bell was arrested on charges of gun theft and unlawful gun possession in April and was released on $27,000 bond. He is now charged with violating bond conditions. Bell has prior convictions for aggravated robbery and carjacking.
