Virtual Workout Series Supports COVID-19 Relief

Lung Association Hosts Virtual Workout Series to Support Local Trainers, Fund COVID-19 Initiative

Starting this Saturday, June 6, the American Lung Association in Tennessee will launch its virtual workout series. The organization is teaming up with local fitness partners Dani D. Fitness, The Pilates Place, Camp Gladiator Nashville, and Marathon Pilates to host virtual workouts every Saturday in June during the organization’s virtual LUNG FORCE Run/Walk.

“Our new virtual workout series is a great way to support local small businesses, and also provide vital research funding to help end lung disease, including COVID-19,” said Gail Frost, executive director for the Lung Association. “During this challenging time, it’s important for all those living with lung disease, including COVID-19 and lung cancer to feel hope, optimism and support.”

The workouts will be donation-based classes, with proceeds funding local efforts to end lung disease. Each Saturday, a different fitness partner will host their virtual workout:

  • June 6 at 9 a.m.: $10 Dani D. Fitness
  • June 13 at 10 a.m.: $10 Marathon Pilates
  • June 20 at 3 p.m.: $10 Pilates Place
  • June 27 at 11 a.m.: $5 Camp Gladiator Nashville

To participate, visit LungForce.org/Nashville, select ‘Donate,’ search for the fitness team (i.e. Dani D. Fitness, or Marathon Pilates, etc.) and donate the listed amount. Participants will receive the link to join the workout one-two days before the class.

The events are part of the Lung Association’s LUNG FORCE Run/Walk, a virtual fundraising event where participants can run or walk one mile, a 5K, 10K, or a half marathon in one trip or can spread out their chosen distance over the entire month. Money raised at the LUNG FORCE Run/Walk will fund the Lung Association’s efforts to end lung disease. It will also support the Lung Association’s COVID-19 Action Initiative, a $25 million investment to address COVID-19 and protect against future respiratory virus pandemics.

Registration for the LUNG FORCE Run/Walk is $25. More information can be found at LUNGFORCE.org/Nashville. Registered participants will receive a digital, customizable Race Bib to wear during their virtual race to show their support. All participants who register and send proof of completion will receive an official 2020 LUNG FORCE Run/Walk medal post-race.
