Weather Service Confirms It's Hot, Issues Heat Advisory For Middle Tennessee

With heat indices pushing as high as 106, the National Weather Service has issued a heat advisory for much of Middle Tennessee.

NASHVILLE, TN — Be advised: it's hot out there.

The National Weather Service issued a heat advisory for the most of Middle Tennessee — roughly everywhere except for the Cumberland Plateau— to run from noon Thursday through 7 p.m. Saturday for counties west of Interstate 65 and from noon Friday until 7 p.m. Saturday for the counties farther east. Forecasters predict heat index values as high as 104 Thursday and 106 Friday and suggested the advisory area may be extended through the rest of Middle Tennessee later .

"Dangerously hot and humid weather will build across the Mid State through Friday under strong high pressure," the NWS said. "Temperatures will climb into the mid to upper 90s with afternoon heat index values from 100 to 106."
