Woman Arrested For Crash That Killed Wheelchair Bound Man In Nashville

Fatal crash investigators this morning charged Kelly Obrien, 22, of Decatur, Illinois, with leaving the scene of a crash involving death, a felony, and failure to render aid in connection with Sunday night’s collision with a 61-year-old wheelchair bound man on Dickerson Pike near Duke Street.

Edward Kendell, of Murfreesboro Pike, died shortly after arriving at Skyline Medical Center.

Kendell was attempting to cross Dickerson Pike outside of a crosswalk and was in the southbound lanes at 9:30 p.m. when he was hit by a Jeep Latitude. The Jeep traveled a short distance and was left by the driver in a parking lot. Obrien showed up at Night Court at 12:55 a.m. today and said she wanted to talk to officers about the crash. She admitted to being the driver of the Jeep.

Obrien was released from jail after posting a $4,000 bond.
