Woman Charged With Vehicular Homicide By Impairment After Crashing Stolen Vehicle Into A Parked Pickup Truck In Nashville

After Woodruff collided with a second parked vehicle, she attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by citizens in the area.

Fatal crash investigators charged Brittnie Woodruff, 29, with vehicular homicide by impairment for Tuesday’s 3:20 p.m. collision with a parked pickup truck on Tennessee Avenue near 51st Avenue North.

The preliminary investigation shows that Christopher Slaughter Sr., 61, of Stewarts Lane, was standing outside his parked 2004 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck loading lawn equipment onto a trailer when his vehicle was struck by a westbound 2016 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driven by Woodruff. Slaughter, who was pulled under his truck, died at the scene. After Woodruff collided with a second parked vehicle, she attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended by citizens in the area. Just before the collision, Woodruff had stolen the work truck from a nearby construction site.

There was evidence of drug involvement recovered from Woodruff. She showed signs of impairment including slow, slurred speech, and involuntary rapid eye movement. A blood sample from her will be analyzed by the MNPD Crime Laboratory.

Woodruff is also charged with vehicle theft, leaving the scene of a crash, and driving without a license.
