Woman Found Dead In Cumberland River Identified

The woman found dead Saturday afternoon in the Cumberland River has now been positively identified as Sonta Tycee Gentry, 43, who recently moved to Nashville from Alabama.

A co-worker of Gentry’s from a local grocery store, who heard the victim’s description on the news over the weekend, called in to say that the deceased could be Gentry. Confirmation was made through fingerprints on file in Alabama.

The cause and manner of Gentry’s death have not been determined. Detectives are continuing to interview persons who knew her.
