1. Former Sevier-Area DA Jimmy Dunn Pleads Not Guilty; Dismissal Motions Filed in Criminal Case (wivk.com) — A high-profile criminal case in Sevierville is moving forward as former Fourth Judicial District Attorney General Jimmy Dunn pleaded not guilty to multiple misconduct-related charges tied to the 2023 arrest of Sevier County resident Erik Cooper. Former Assistant DA William Brownlow Marsh is also contesting charges and has filed motions to dismiss. A specially appointed judge will now decide whether the case proceeds to trial, with both men presumed innocent as proceedings continue.

2. Mountain Hope holds health fair Oct. 22-23 (themountainpress.com) — Mountain Hope Good Shepherd Clinic is hosting a two-day health fair Oct. 22-23 at its main Sevierville location on Prince Street, offering free screenings, limited lab work, vaccines, and food assistance. Sevier County residents who are uninsured or underinsured can qualify based on income and must call ahead for an appointment, with support from ETSU’s Quillen College of Medicine and local partners.

3. KARS added to lawsuit over liquor store certificate (themountainpress.com) — A federal lawsuit is challenging Sevierville’s decision to let KARS Inc keep its certificate of compliance for a new liquor store planned on Dolly Parton Parkway. Local business owner Jessica Strode wants the city ordered to transfer that certificate to her, arguing her rights were violated, while construction on KARS’ liquor store and restaurant complex nears completion.

Arrests Oct. 1-2 (themountainpress.com) — Recent Sevier County Jail intake reports list multiple Sevierville residents charged between Oct. 1-2, including DUI, domestic assault, probation violations, and more serious allegations. Others from across the region and out of state also face charges or immigration detainers, with all individuals presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

TSSAA DIvision I Class AA State Golf Preview (chattanoogan.com) — State high school golfers from across Tennessee are converging on Sevierville this Thursday and Friday for the TSSAA Division I Class AA championships at Sevierville Golf Club’s River and Highlands courses. Walker Valley’s boys and Ooltewah’s girls lead a strong field of teams and individual qualifiers, many with prior experience on these local courses. Expect busy fairways, visiting families, and plenty of competitive play around town.
