NUEVO LEON, TX — Authorities say two Texans have been rescued after being kidnapped and held for ransom in Mexico. The Americans traveled to the Mexican state of Nuevo Leon on Feb. 17 and stopped contacting their families the following day, authorities said. The kidnappers started demanding ransom on Feb. 19.
A tip helped a special anti-kidnapping unit rescue the Texans, who weren't publicly identified, on Saturday in the Monterrey suburb of Juarez. The kidnappers were found on a highway. Two individuals were arrested.
The Americans have since returned to the United States, Nuevo Leon prosecutors said.
