FBI Probing Abel Reyna For Corruption: Biker Shooting Affidavit
A retired Waco police officer said the FBI is investigating McLennan County District Attorney Abel Reyna for alleged public corruption.

WACO, TX — Abel Reyna, the McLennan County district attorney, is the subject of an FBI investigation for alleged public corruption, according to a retired Waco police officer's affidavit. The affidavit was filed on Tuesday by Jorge Salinas.
Salinas was among the more than 150 bikers indicted on criminal conspiracy charges stemming from a May 2015 shooting in Waco that left nine dead. It's the third affidavit signed by former law enforcement officials, who said FBI agents questioned them about Reyna allegedly helping campaign donors avoid legal trouble.
The affidavits were filed in support of Salinas' motion to compel the district attorney's office to share evidence and force Reyna onto the witness stand.

The investigation stems from the May 17, 2015 shootout at Twin Peaks restaurant in Waco, in which rival motorcycle gangs — the Banditos and the Cossacks — clashed. Jake Carrizal, president of the Dallas Bandidos motorcycle club said the Cossacks, who weren't expected to be at the restaurant that day, "ambushed" the Bandidos during a regular meeting of the club. The Cossacks were gathered on the patio of the restaurant when Carrizal and other Bandidos pulled into the parking lot for the meeting. A gunfight broke out almost immediately. In the end, nine people were killed and another 20 were wounded.
Carrizal was charged with engaging in organized criminal activity with an underlying offense of murder, engaging in organized criminal activity with an underlying offense of aggravated assault and directing the activities of a criminal street gang. The judge last month declared mistrial in Carrizal's case after the jury said it was deadlocked.
