• Barbara Jean Wilson (Stover) (wcmessenger.com) — Alvord is mourning the loss of 87-year-old Barbara Jean Wilson, a devoted member of First Baptist Church Alvord and retired Decatur ISD educator who passed away May 27. Her life centered on faith, family, and supporting her children’s and grandchildren’s activities across North Texas. 
• Weekend keeps first responders busy (wcmessenger.com) — Alvord firefighters joined Decatur, Greenwood/Slidell, Krum and Wise County EMS Sunday night to battle a house fire northeast of Decatur that sadly claimed two dogs but caused no human injuries. Their response capped a busy weekend of wrecks and fires that kept Wise County first responders on the move.
