2. The Amarillo Museum of Art brings pioneering artists together in ‘Stations Words (amarillotribune.org) — Amarillo Museum of Art is marking Route 66’s centennial with a new Ed Ruscha and Ron Cooper exhibition opening May 30 at 6:30 p.m. Residents can explore iconic Route 66 imagery, light-and-space installations, and four vintage hot rods, including a 1926 Ford Model T. Admission is $15 for non-members and free for members, with a gallery talk that evening.

3. 3rd suspect arrested in Amarillo apartment shooting (myhighplains.com) — Amarillo police have arrested a third suspect tied to the deadly May 2 shooting at the Westminster Apartments on Coulter Street, where 10 people were injured and two were killed. The 17-year-old suspect now faces a murder charge, and all three suspects are expected to receive multiple aggravated assault and mass shooting charges as the case moves forward.

Man sentenced to 40 years in Amarillo Federal Court on child pornography charge (myhighplains.com) — A man has been sentenced in Amarillo federal court to 40 years in federal prison after pleading guilty to transporting child pornography, following a 2025 investigation. 5. Volunteer helicopter pilot helped fire crews during Stinky Fire (newschannel10.com) — A local volunteer helicopter pilot from Amarillo joined ground crews to battle the Stinky Fire, using his own aircraft and fuel to protect nearby homes. Working closely with Texas A&M Forest Service and local fire departments, he made repeated water drops, sometimes from ranch ponds and even a swimming pool, while stressing safety protocols and urging residents to support volunteer firefighters and clear defensible space around their properties.
