On January 12th, the 87th Texas Legislature will gavel into session. Those among us lucky enough to have taken Texas History and Civics in high school might remember a little about how the Texas Legislature works. For those who are transplants and for younger folks educated after those courses disappeared from the High School curriculum, the Texas Legislature may be a mystery.The Texas Tribune broadcast a great Primer on the Legislature. It talks about the organization, the players, how a bill becomes law, how Texas differs from other states and from the US Congress. It is informative and entertaining and lasts just 30 minutes. .
