The Medal of Honor is the highest military honor in the U.S. It is awarded to servicemen who have courageously distinguished themselves in combat. Some famous recipients include William Harvey Carney, a born slave who later became the first African-American to receive the medal, and Dr. Mary Edwards Walker, the only female recipient.

The mail call is an opportunity to show heartfelt gratitude for their sacrifices. You are encouraged to learn about them, choose one whose story stands out to you and mail a letter to the National Medal of Honor Museum before March 25th, National Medal of Honor Day.
