Culture Buzz: Downtown Arlington Art Studio Showcases Creativity, Pride

Catalyst Creative Arts, in Downtown Arlington, is giving people a space to tap into their creativity.

June 25, 2020 Catalyst Creative Arts, in Downtown Arlington, is giving people a space to tap into their creativity.

From leather work to watercolors, the studio offers about 15 different media and techniques, all with a goal of helping customers discover their inner artist.

"We believe everyone has that inside them," said Catalyst co-owner Helen Yoon.

The studio doubles as an event space, and lessons are often turned into parties. One popular session is water marbling. The technique lets you paint on the surface of water. A piece of fabric is then placed on top, taking on the design.

To celebrate LGBTQ Pride Month, Catalyst customers have been using the technique to create rainbow scarves.

"We love it because we really believe in diversity and inclusion," Yoon said.
