• Debbie Lane Widening Project Complete (arlingtonnetwork.com) — South Arlington drivers are about to get relief: Debbie Lane has been fully rebuilt into a four-lane concrete roadway between SH 360 and the Mansfield city limits, with new signals, sidewalks, and drainage. A ribbon-cutting is set for Friday, August 28, at 9 a.m. at Glenn Day Drive and Debbie Lane, and motorists are urged to adjust carefully to the new traffic patterns. 
• Texas Man Jailed Two Weeks After Viral Video of Sneaking Into FIFA World Cup Semifinal (newyorkbeacon.net) — A Texas man says he slipped into the France–Spain World Cup semifinal at AT&T Stadium in Arlington by getting hired as a temporary ticket taker, then ditching his uniform to watch the match. Weeks later, after his video about the stunt went viral, he was arrested and briefly jailed in Tarrant County on an alleged theft charge tied to the incident.
• Angel Reese breaks WNBA record with 26 rebounds against Sparks, sets single-season record as well (sfchronicle.com) — Arlington hoops fans recently hosted Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream when they faced the Dallas Wings here in late July, just weeks before she shattered the WNBA single-game and single-season rebounding records in Los Angeles. Her dominant board work, including 26 rebounds against the Sparks, continues a historic run that has her leading the league in double-doubles and rebounding.
