The funding helps provide local kids with backpacks, school supplies, shoes, clothing, food, and other essentials, while also supporting similar programs in nearby districts like Mansfield, Grand Prairie, and Fort Worth. 
• Jacob deGrom fires 7 shutout innings as Rangers rout Athletics (statenews.net) — Baseball fans in Arlington just saw Jacob deGrom dominate at home, throwing seven scoreless innings as the Texas Rangers beat the Oakland Athletics 8–1. With help from multi-RBI nights by Brandon Nimmo and Cody Freeman, the win nudged the Rangers closer in the American League wild-card race.
