• Cedar Creek data center developers withdraw tax break request (elgincourier.com) — Developers of a massive 2,800-acre data center and natural gas power project in Cedar Creek have pulled their requests for Bastrop County tax abatements, leaving the project’s future unclear. County officials say the development itself is still moving through permitting, even as multiple other data center proposals compete for the same area.
   

• Back to school and Blue Origin: Check out these trending Austin area stories (communityimpact.com) — Bastrop drivers should watch for new road and safety changes around the Sendero and Burleson Crossing shopping centers, plus improvements near the Settlement Estates senior community. That update is one of several trending Austin-area stories, alongside a major Blue Origin deal in Hutto, a Round Rock road project, and other regional school and business news.
   

• Submit Applications for Black Fund of Central Texas Grants 2026 (fundsforngos.org) — Black-led nonprofits serving Bastrop County can now apply for Black Fund of Central Texas grants ranging from $5,000 to $20,000 before the September 10, 2026 deadline. The program will distribute $250,000 across 20 organizations and also offers capacity-building support to applicants that are not selected, as long as they meet the regional and tax-status requirements.
