Officers responded around 2:26 a.m., provided lifesaving aid at the scene, and later identified Matthews as the suspect. Investigators say the violence appears to have started with an argument, and they’re asking anyone with information to contact Beaumont Police or Southeast Texas Crime Stoppers.

Beaumont assistant city manager leaving for new position (kfdm.com) — Beaumont’s assistant city manager June Ellis is leaving her role next month, with Mayor Roy West saying she’ll formally notify council at its next meeting.
