Chapters are being posted throughout the summer, and public feedback now will shape what ultimately goes to the Planning Commission and City Council this fall.

Beaumont ISD says third-grade STAAR gains could take years (beaumontenterprise.com) ā Beaumont ISD leaders are outlining a longāterm plan to raise low thirdāgrade STAAR reading and math scores, aiming for major gains by 2031. Superintendent Sandi Massey detailed campus ratings, accountability domains, and new strategies like summer bridge camps and earlier preparation starting in preāK to close achievement gaps across Beaumont schools.

Beaumont police investigate sex offenders' compliance with Texas registration laws (12newsnow.com) ā Beaumont police recently checked more than 60 registered sex offenders across the city and opened several criminal investigations after finding about 10 out of compliance with Texas registration laws. The effort comes as Beaumont adopts new child safety zone rules and invests in shared OffenderWatch software with Jefferson County and Nederland to better track offenders and help protect children.

4. BPD issues Critical Missing Child Alert (kfdm.com) ā Beaumont Police are urgently asking for help finding 9-year-old David Manuel, last seen Friday afternoon at apartments on Elmira Street. Residents are urged to call BPD or 911 immediately with any sightings or information, or submit anonymous tips through Crime Stoppers of Southeast Texas, where tipsters may qualify for a cash reward.
