UHD’s College of Public Service and Latinas Achieve are co-hosting the event, “Local Government Matters,” from 1:30 to 3 p.m., Monday, Sept. 13.

Next week’s webinar will focus on learning about the importance of everyone’s involvement in local government and how to become involved. Facilitated by UHD’s Dr. Liza Barros-Lane, Assistant Professor of Social Work and Dr. Diane Miller, Assistant Professor of Literacy (Urban Education), the event panel will include:

  • Isabel Longora, Elections Administrator, Harris County
  • Rhonda Kuydendall, Chairwoman, Fort Bend County DA Human Trafficking Team
  • Selena Garcia, Policy Fellow, Office of Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo and UHD Alumna
  • Dr. Elizabeth Gilmore, Assistant Professor of Criminal Justice and UHD Alumna
  • Eoles Whitaker, President & CEO, Whitaker Alliance Group, LLC (community partner)
