1. No Threats Found After Separate Incidents at Brownwood, Coleman Schools (sanangelolive.com) — Brownwood High School briefly went into secure status Tuesday after a phoned threat, but police found no active danger and classes continued with extra patrols. Officials praised Brownwood law enforcement and stressed that such threats will be prosecuted, while a separate hoax incident in Coleman also ended safely.

2. Mayor Haynes, council members Jones, Miller sworn in for another term (brownwoodnews.com) — Brownwood residents will see continuity at City Hall as Mayor Stephen Haynes and council members H.D. Jones and Draco Miller Jr. were sworn in after running unopposed. Council also renewed the Lifeguard Ambulance contract, set the city’s subsidy share, and delayed final action on a 20‑year Oncor electric franchise agreement so members can review terms more closely.

3. Judy Hays, 84 (koxe.com) — Brownwood residents are remembering longtime educator Judy Ann Oefinger Hays, 84, who spent much of her teaching career with Brownwood ISD and raised her family here. A celebration of her life is set for Saturday, May 30 at Blaylock Funeral Home in Brownwood. Her family suggests honoring her through acts of love or donations to the Brownwood Education Foundation or Alpha-Omega Hospice Brownwood.

4. Johnleen Rainey Hudson, 87 (koxe.com) — Family and friends are mourning Johnleen Rainey Hudson, 87, whose life was closely tied to Brownwood through her 1957 Brownwood High School graduation and local work. Graveside services are set for Friday, May 15 at Staley Cemetery under Blaylock Funeral Home’s direction. Loved ones remember her welcoming home, artistic floral talents, and deep devotion to family.
