• Brown County 4-H News: Oct. 1 (brownwoodnews.com) — Brown County 4-H families in the Brownwood area have several key dates coming up, including an October 10 Light Up Lake Brownwood fundraiser and October 24 lamb and goat validation for the 2027 Brown County Youth Fair. The newsletter also explains the new online enrollment system, a participation point program, and stricter state validation and membership rules that exhibitors must follow to show locally.
   

• Lady Lions volleyball falls in three sets at No. 16 Brock (brownwoodnews.com) — Brownwood Lady Lions volleyball dropped a straight-sets road match to state-ranked Brock, falling to 0-4 in District 6-4A and 7-21 overall. Several Brownwood players shared the offensive and defensive load, and the team now turns its focus to a key district matchup at Stephenville on Tuesday as they finish the first half of district play.
   

• Jimmy Franklin Miller (brownwoodnews.com) — Brownwood-area residents are mourning the passing of 74-year-old Jimmy Franklin Miller of Lake Brownwood, with visitation set for Tuesday and funeral services Wednesday at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Born in Brownwood, he spent many years as a truck driver, was active in his church community, and is remembered by his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren across the region.
